仏教の源流をたどる本行程は、デリー到着後に特急でラクナウへ、専用車で釈尊ゆかりの地へと進みます。まずはネパールのルンビニで誕生の地を象徴するマヤデヴィ寺院とアショーカ王柱を訪問。続いてインドのクシナガラで涅槃の地を巡礼し、バラナシでは夕刻のガンジス河ガンガー・アールティと、翌早朝のボートライドで水と祈りの気配を体感します。鹿野苑サールナートでは初転法輪ゆかりの遺跡と博物館を見学。さらにブッダガヤの大菩提寺での参拝・瞑想、尼連禅河やスジャータ村にも足を延ばし、誕生・成道・初転法輪・入滅の四大聖地を一筆書きで結びます。日本語ガイドと専用車、列車・国内線を組み合わせ、心静かに"祈りの道"を辿るための安心と濃密さを兼ね備えた巡礼の旅です。
