Visit to the Duomo Museum with private English-speaking guide

This guided tour begins with the Baptistery, Dante's "beautiful San Giovanni", one of the oldest churches in Florence, embellished on the outside by three bronze doors, one of which is very famous, called "del Paradiso", and on the inside by a rich mosaic decoration with a golden background that covers the entire dome.
Then comes the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, an expression of the city's pride, the largest in Europe at its completion, characterised by this enormous dome born of the genius of Filippo Brunelleschi.

With its artistic masterpieces, colorful marble churches, and architecture that evoke the splendor and role of Florence during the Renaissance, Florence is a fascinating city. The heart of the city is the Piazza del Duomo, with the monumental complex of the Basilica of Santa Maria del Fiore – surmounted by the majestic dome by Brunelleschi – the baptistery of San Giovanni – a magnificent example of Florentine Romanesque art – the bell tower of Giotto – a masterpiece of Florentine Gothic architecture.
Piazza della Signoria represents the historic center and houses the 14th-century Loggia dei Lanzi, the Fountain of Neptune, and the Palazzo della Signoria or Palazzo Vecchio, one of the emblematic monuments of the city, in front of which there are some famous statues including one copy of Michelangelo's famous David. Next to the square is the majestic Uffizi Gallery, one of the most important museums in the world, which houses works by Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and many other great artists.
Also worth seeing are the 16th-century Loggia del Mercato Nuovo, also called Loggia del Porcellino for the characteristic bronze statue, in fact representing a boar, considered a lucky charm, and the grandiose Palazzo Strozzi, with a magnificent inner courtyard.
The medieval district of Santa Croce shows another interesting aspect of the city. Dominated by the basilica of the same name, famous for frescoes by Giotto and for preserving the tombs of many illustrious Italians, including Michelangelo, Galileo and Machiavelli, a walk is a must. The extraordinary monumental complex of San Lorenzo and the convent of Santa Maria Novella are also worth a visit, together with the church which preserves famous frescoes and precious works of art and the museum, including the famous green cloister and the Cappellone degli Spagnoli.
And of course, the Ponte Vecchio, dotted with historic goldsmith shops, is an essential passage through which you reach the Oltrarno district, where you encounter the picturesque square dominated by Palazzo Pitti, the imposing and sumptuous palace that was the residence of the Medici, with the magnificent park, the Boboli Gardens, a splendid example of an Italian garden.
