    We will take you on a journey through time from colonial Bogotá to modern urban life. First, visit the lively and colorful Paloquemao Market, where you can enjoy and taste a wide variety of fruits and vegetables against the backdrop of everyday Colombian scenes. Then take the cable car up to Monserrate Hill. From an altitude of 3,100 m, enjoy the magnificent view of the sprawling city of Bogotá, home to around 9 million people, and the surrounding highlands.

    Next, pass by the majestic Bolívar Square and the surrounding government buildings, and head to the historic district of La Candelaria. We will also stop at San Francisco Church, the oldest church in Bogotá. Finally, visit the world-famous Gold Museum, which houses more than 30,000 pre-Columbian gold artifacts and offers further insight into ancient cultures (closed on Mondays).

    On Sundays Monserrate can be extremely crowded, and long queues or traffic delays may occur for both ascending and descending. If you wish to avoid waiting, you can purchase fast-pass tickets for yourself and your guide on site for around USD 24 per person (not included in the tour price). Alternatively, as an option, you can travel with the guide by private vehicle to Guadalupe Hill at 3,300 m or to La Calera. These locations also offer beautiful views of Bogotá.     Not far from the bustle of Bogotá, the Andes hide natural treasures, small villages, and grand landscapes, making the capital an excellent base for exploration.

    After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for the high-altitude small town of Choachí. Traveling east from Bogotá along winding roads that climb steeply, you will enter a misty cloud forest and pass between Bogotá's two iconic hills, Monserrate and Guadalupe. After about a 1.5-hour drive, you will reach the trailhead for La Chorrera, Colombia's tallest waterfall (total drop 598 m, with tiers).

    This hiking trail at about 1,900 m altitude winds along narrow paths through secondary tropical forest home to orchids, bromeliads, and diverse birdlife, eventually leading to the waterfall. On the return, you can have lunch (extra charge) and, if desired, refresh yourself by dipping your feet in the cold water of the Chiflon waterfall.

    Hiking time: Approximately 4–5 hours
    Return to Bogotá is planned for the late afternoon.

    An adventurous day begins early. Depart Bogotá in the morning with a support vehicle and head north across the high plateau. The first destination is the world-renowned "Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá." Carved into a salt mine 120 meters deep in the 1950s, it is an impressive monument. The town of Zipaquirá itself, about 50 km north of Bogotá, is charming and offers a pleasant stroll around its beautiful central square.

    Afterwards, switch to E-bikes in the nearby town of Nemocón and ride along peaceful country roads. Pause at Nemocón's pleasant plaza for a coffee and to experience local life. Continue to Sesquilé, which faces the Tomine reservoir, and then ride along the lakeshore toward the legendary Lake Guatavita. The final 8 km are uphill toward the mysterious mountain lake.

    The journey ends with a hike from 2,950 m to 3,100 m. Follow cobbled paths and stone steps while observing Andean highland forests and subpáramo vegetation. This lake is considered the origin of the "El Dorado" legend and was a sacred site where the Muisca performed rituals. The chief would cover himself in gold dust and enter the lake, while the people threw gold ornaments into the water. For centuries the Spanish sought the lake's gold and even attempted to drain it.

    On the tour you will learn about this legend and the attempts to drain the lake, then stop in the village of Guatavita before returning to Bogotá in the late afternoon.

    Early in the morning, head north from Bogotá via Guasca to Chingaza National Natural Park (about 50 km from Bogotá). This reserve is located in some of the highest parts of the Andes and covers more than 504 km². Most of the area is above 3,000 m, featuring diverse environments such as forests, páramo (high-altitude tundra), and lakes.

    In this cool and mystical páramo ecosystem you can see characteristic plants such as frailejones, and if you are lucky you may encounter deer or spectacled bears.

    There are several hiking routes in the park, and you can choose one of the following according to your preference:

    Buitrago Lagoon group route (about 5 km / approx. 2.5 hours walking / moderate difficulty)

    Siecha Ridge (Cuchillas de Siecha) route (about 7 km / approx. 2.5–3 hours walking)

    Siecha Lakes group route (about 13 km / approx. 5–6 hours walking)

    All routes take place at altitudes between approximately 3,300 and 3,700 m.
