Travel story
A journey tracing the depths of the South American continent—an exploration of history and a tour of nature's ultimate beauty.
The trip begins in Lima, the capital of Peru, and ascends into the Andean highlands. Along the route through the Sacred Valley, you will visit the beautiful sanctuary of Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World and a historic sacred site of the Inca civilization, and listen for the whispers of the ancient Pachacutec peoples.
After following the traces of civilization, the itinerary continues to La Paz, the highest capital city in the world, and on to otherworldly natural spectacles. You will marvel at the vast expanse of the world’s largest salt flat, the Uyuni Salt Flat, and enjoy stargazing at night with a warm drink. The journey then crosses into Chile’s Atacama, where the mysterious Valle de la Luna (Valley of the Moon) presents otherworldly landscapes shaped by eroded rock and sand dunes, and the sunset sinking to the horizon creates a magical atmosphere.
The grand climax of the trip is an unparalleled polar adventure. Visit Magdalena Island, home to one of South America’s largest colonies of Magellanic penguins, and then take in the majestic scenery of Torres del Paine National Park in Patagonia. Finally, overwhelmed by the breathtaking sight of glaciers, you will commit to memory the striking contrast between sky and ice as the journey concludes.
