From Zurich to Bern
What the train carries is
Deeper, quiet emotions than the scenery
-
This is a 6-day itinerary traveling by train to major cities in Switzerland. After arriving at Zurich Airport, you will transfer to Lucerne by private car and stay at a lakeside hotel. In the old town, you will take a walking tour with an English guide to learn about the city's history and architecture.
From Lucerne, you will travel by train to Interlaken and include a visit to Jungfraujoch. Using the mountain railway, you will access the observation facility at an altitude of 3,454 meters, where you can overlook the Alpine glacier region.
After that, you will head to Bern, taking time to stroll through the old town and visit museums. On the final day, you will return to Zurich by express train and head to the airport for your return journey.
Signature points
The lakeside city of Lucerne where tranquility and structure resonate
Bridges and towers, the cobblestones of the old town maintain a quiet order, shaping the contours of the city.
The presence of the lake softly illuminates the depth of the city.
A landscape experience of altitude and density guided by the mountain railway
On the way to Jungfraujoch, the altitude increases and so does the density of the scenery.
The layered landscape of glaciers and mountains expands the horizons of the journey all at once.
The old town of Bern where time flows in stone
The succession of buildings and streets dating back to the Middle Ages functions like a memory device for the city itself.
The flow of the river, the city, and the people creates a balanced rhythm.

Lucerne is a small Swiss city known for well-preserved medieval architecture, standing on the shores of Lake Lucerne, between snow-capped mountains. Its colorful Altstadt (old town) district is bordered to the north by the Museggmauer (Musegg wall), an 870-meter-long 14th-century bastion. The Kapellbrücke covered bridge (chapel bridge), built in 1333, connects the Altstadt to the right bank of the Reuss River.
Not far away, there are Mount Rigi and Mount Pilatus, destinations for skiing and hiking. The 9 medieval watchtowers of the Museggmauer are connected by walking and have a view of the mountains, the river and Lake Lucerne, on which steamships sail that take visitors on a trip. A cogwheel railway, perhaps the steepest in the world, runs on vertical ridges to the top of Mount Pilatus.
The Rosengart Collection includes paintings by Paul Klee and Picasso among its works, while the Kultur und Kongresszentrum (KKL Luzern), a modernist building by architect Jean Nouvel, stands on the lake front and is a center famous for the performing arts, especially symphonic music.

Bern, the charming capital of Switzerland, offers a delightful mix of history, culture, and natural beauty. Explore Bern’s UNESCO-listed medieval center, known for its uniformity. Most of the city was rebuilt after a fire in 1405, resulting in tall sandstone buildings and six kilometers of arcades. These arcades hide shops, bars, cafes, and restaurants. Don’t miss the 11 Renaissance fountains scattered throughout the center, each with a polychrome statue representing a historical figure or allegorical figure.
Located in the eastern outskirts, the Zentrum Paul Klee museum celebrates the influential artist Paul Klee. Designed by Renzo Piano, it houses around 40% of Klee’s entire oeuvre, from childhood sketches to his Expressionist, Cubist, and Surrealist periods. The museum’s ever-changing temporary shows ensure a unique experience with each visit.
Erected in the 12th century, the Zytglogge (Clock Tower), in the Old Town, features an extraordinary clock installed in 1530. The clock’s intricate mechanisms include moving figurines and a parade of bears.
Admire the views from the Gothic cathedral, which dominates the city skyline. Climb the tower for panoramic vistas.
Relax in the beautiful Rosengarten (rose garden), offering stunning views of Bern’s rooftops and the distant Alps.
