Day3
  • Breakfast
  • Discover in Self-guided : Visit Nice in the footsteps of Mark Chagall and Picasso By visiting Nice, you cannot miss the arts of famous artists who lived on the French Riviera such as Picasso or Chagall! Start with the National Mark Chagall museum. This museum opens every day from 10 am to 5 pm so you'll get the chance to observe a large part of the works of Marc Chagall! More than the paintings and arts inside the museum, you'll appreciate the architecture of the museum itself and its beautiful garden.

(The entrance to be immersed in Arts is only 8€ per person.)

We definitely recommend visiting this museum! Another option is to follow the Picasso itinerary and visit the places where he painted/lived such as Antibes, Vallauris, Cannes or Mougins.

From Nice, you can reach Antibes by train or by car then you can go to Vallauris (less than 20 minutes journey from Antibes). In Antibes, it will be the easiest and closest place to discover Picasso's art. It was an intense period for the artist where he realized some poems and settled down in the Château Grimaldi to paint. From there he could enjoy a wonderful view of the sea. This place became the Picasso museum and, there, you'll find numerous of his works dedicated to the mediterranean sea.

In Vallauris, you'll observe the different art of Picasso. This is where he discovered ceramics and produced more than 4000 works at the Fournas studio (Atelier du Fournas). He also gave to the city his sculpture "L'homme au mouton" which you can observe in the village square and chose the roman Chapel of Vallauris to place his important fresco "La Guerre et La Paix".

These two places are very emblematic and you'll get to appreciate a lot of Picasso arts and life, it's a must-do in the region!
