Travel story
The mountain ridgeline slowly changes shape
The scenery outside the train window creates a quiet flow to the journey
The colors of the Alps deepen little by little
-
In Grindelwald and Lake Oeschinen, you can experience the quintessential Alpine scenes where ridgelines and the hues of the lakes shift, and the beginning of the trip gently deepens.
In Zermatt, the views from Gornergrat and strolling through town broaden the journey’s expressions, and the Glacier Express’s windows calmly connect the depth of the mountain regions.
Toward the end, based in St. Moritz you spend time by the lakeshore, and by the time you head to Zurich, the changes in color and terrain you’ve seen while crossing Switzerland remain in your mind as a continuous flow.
Signature points
An itinerary that lets you enjoy the changing scenery linked by trains as it is
On mountain railways including the Glacier Express, you can slowly savor the characteristically Swiss terrain as it shifts from valleys to highlands and from meadows to rocky landscapes. Instead of a fixed "checklist" of sights, you move while feeling the changes outside the window, so the rhythm of the trip naturally calms down.
A route that lets you encounter the Alps’ diverse expressions of terrain
In places like Grindelwald, Lake Oeschinen, and the highlands of Zermatt, the appearance of the mountains and lakes differs greatly at each destination. Ruggedness and tranquility coexist within the same itinerary, so with every walk and every view you encounter a "different Switzerland".
Ample free time to explore towns without relying on a guide
In St. Moritz and Zurich, there is plenty of leeway to choose cafes, lakeside walks, and museums according to your interests, giving the trip a gentle expansiveness. Rather than adjusting to a guide, having time to "savor the town at your own pace" contributes to the overall comfort of the journey.

Welcome to Zurich!
Culturally vibrant, efficiently run and attractively set at the meeting of river and lake, Zürich is regularly recognised as one of the world's most liveable cities.
Long known as a savvy, hard-working financial centre, Switzerland's largest and wealthiest metropolis has also emerged in the 21st century as one of Central Europe's hippest destinations, with an artsy, post-industrial edge that is epitomised in its exuberant summer Street Parade.
Much of the ancient centre, with its winding lanes and tall church steeples, has been kept lovingly intact.
Yet Zürich has also wholeheartedly embraced contemporary trends, with the conversion of old factories into cultural centres and creative new living spaces.
Nowhere is that clearer than in Züri-West, the epicentre of the city’s nightlife.
