Entrance Tickets to the Munch Museum
MUNCH is home to the world's largest collection of world-renowned Norwegian artist Edvard Munch (1863–1944). The museum’s new building, designed by Estudio Herreros, opened on Oslo’s waterfront in 2021, and houses several galleries and performance spaces over 13 floors. Tone Hansen has been its director since October 2022.
Four years prior to Edvard Munch’s death in 1944, he bequeathed all his own works in his possession to the City of Oslo. Munch was already involved in discussions about a future museum while he still lived, but it was not until 1963, one hundred years after his birth, that the museum opened in a very contemporary building.

Entrance Tickets to the Munch Museum
MUNCH is home to the world's largest collection of world-renowned Norwegian artist Edvard Munch (1863–1944). The museum’s new building, designed by Estudio Herreros, opened on Oslo’s waterfront in 2021, and houses several galleries and performance spaces over 13 floors. Tone Hansen has been its director since October 2022.
Four years prior to Edvard Munch’s death in 1944, he bequeathed all his own works in his possession to the City of Oslo. Munch was already involved in discussions about a future museum while he still lived, but it was not until 1963, one hundred years after his birth, that the museum opened in a very contemporary building.
