One of the most unique sights in the old medina is the tanneries, especially the Chaouara Tannery. Climb onto the roofs of nearby leather shops to look down on stone dyeing vats dating from the 11th century and craftsmen who still use techniques centuries old.
Al-Attarine Madrasa
Built in the 14th century, this building is a beautiful example of Moroccan architecture and craftsmanship, noted for its intricate zellige (tilework).
Al-Qarawiyyin University
