Signature points
Time to encounter masterpieces and cultural heritage
In Amsterdam, visit the Rijksmuseum, which houses masterpieces by Rembrandt, Vermeer, and others, and the Van Gogh Museum, where you can deeply feel Van Gogh's world. Beyond mere viewing, being aware of the background and era in which the works were created lets you experience how the city itself has lived with art. Spending time to savor world-renowned artworks on site is a special experience that can be considered the core of the trip.
Experience the city's character and creativity in Utrecht
In Utrecht, the ancient Dutch city, the entire city is imbued with an artistic atmosphere. Visit spots that symbolize its unique culture, such as the Miffy Museum, enjoyable for both children and adults, and the Rietveld Schröder House, an icon of modern architecture. Additionally, the Centraal Museum displays a wide range of collections from classical to contemporary, allowing you to understand the depth of Dutch art. Though a small city, Utrecht overflows with creativity and offers charms different from Amsterdam.
Dutch everyday life felt through walking and free time
Not only visits to museums and tourist sites but also time to freely enjoy the city—such as strolling along the canals or spending time in cafes—is included. Encounters in cobbled lanes and markets let you feel the city's breath that guidebooks don't capture. Having unstructured time in the schedule makes travel memories more personal and rich, allowing you to savor the two cities of Amsterdam and Utrecht in your own way.

Miffy Museum
Miffy (or Nijntje as we call here) was of course born here, in Utrecht. Every Dutch kid grew up with her simple but magnificent stories. Get to know her creator or ‘father’, the late mr Dick Bruna, in his home city of Utrecht. He was born in Utrecht and passed here in 1997, age 89, but his legacy still lives on in this city and way beyond because his Nijntje and her stories and images live on. Today you can find a square and a museum dedicated to Miffy - but keep in mind the museum is meant for kids age 2-6.
TIP: visit the HEMA department store. From as long as we remember they sell Nijntje (Miffy) stuff, so all of us here have had our parents/grandparents read us the stories, and our kids today still read the books and wear the Nijntje pajamas. HEMA is the most typical Dutch shop - every Dutchman shops their socks and gifts here.
-
Free time for self-guided optional activities
For those looking for some peace & quiet, head to the Oude Hortus. From 1723 until 1920, this park-like garden was the botanical garden of Utrechts university.
Close to the Hortus is the Centraal Museum, which houses the largest Rietveld collection and much more.
Architecture lovers should absolutely visit the Rietveld-Schröder house. This residence of Truus Schröder-Schräder was designed for her by famous architect Gerrit Rietveld. Built as early as 1923-1924 this house is strikingly modernist and the residents of Utrecht couldn’t stop talking about it at the time, being so very different from the architecture at the time, with its open spaces and bright white walls. Nowadays, it’s listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage list and is open to visitors. Other sights include for example the Miffy museum. Miffy (or Nijntje, as she is called in Dutch) was created by mr Dick Bruna, who was born in Utrecht and therefor the city honors his work by this interactive museum. In addition, the railway museum (Spoorwegmuseum) is interesting for families, showcasing two centuries of railway history in a way that’s fun for both young and old.
