Travel story
Beyond the clouds, the sound of grass
The hush of light spreading across the plateau
When I look back, every scene I passed is there

This mountaineering plan uses the Lemosho Route, starting from the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro, and aims for the summit over eight days while gradually acclimatizing to altitude. The first day walks through tropical rainforest, and the landscape gradually opens up. From the second day onward, the route passes through the Shira Plateau, Barranco Valley, and Karanga junction, traversing diverse terrain such as rock faces and ridgelines.

The summit assault begins in the middle of the night on the seventh day, passing Stella Point to reach Uhuru Peak. From the summit, you can take in, at a glance, the landscapes and the time you have walked through. The descent goes via Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate. Throughout the route, the trip is characterized by a richly changing natural environment and a gentle itinerary.
Signature points
Western approach, surrendering to a gradient of landscapes
From tropical rainforest to plateau, ridgeline, and scree.
The Lemosho Route turns the gradual change of scenery itself into the experience.
A gentle schedule that harmonizes body and altitude
The eight-day itinerary provides not only physical pacing but also time to spare.
Your senses are steadily prepared for the midnight summit assault.
Quiet camp time in your own private space
Staying in a private tent lets you keep distance from other climbers,
loosening the tension of the climb while quietly resting your mind and body.

This section is an important final step for altitude acclimatization; although the distance is relatively short, the elevation gain places stress on the body, so a slow, careful pace is required.

Along the way, you’ll traverse rocky terrain and, in the distance, see the glint of glaciers while experiencing the harshness of the high mountains in a quiet atmosphere. [English Guide]

Start for the summit around midnight.

In the middle of the night, depart Barafu Camp at 4,673 meters and begin the ascent toward Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters) in subzero darkness. This summit assault is the most difficult part of the journey: steep slopes, extreme cold, and thin air make it a grueling challenge.

Relying only on the beam of your headlamp to light your footing, you steadily gain altitude step by step, eventually passing Stella Point as the eastern sky begins to lighten slightly. [English Guide]
  • Arrive at Uhuru Peak (5895 m)! Reaching Uhuru Peak at dawn offers a magnificent panorama of the African continent and is an unforgettable, deeply moving moment.
  • Afterward, descend slowly.
After savoring the emotional moment at Uhuru Peak, you descend the steep slopes from the summit toward Millennium Camp at about 3,810 meters.
