This is an example itinerary for a family member who has difficulty walking long distances and needs frequent breaks, visiting midsummer festivals in the Baltic states and island towns. Travel is primarily by minivan with a dedicated driver, and at sightseeing spots, we arrange drop-offs and pick-ups as close to the destinations as possible to reduce walking distances.
The purpose of the trip is to attend a midsummer festival in Lithuania. To avoid large, crowded city festivals, we chose Kernavė, which has a more relaxed, traditional atmosphere.
The itinerary also includes places such as Kihnu Island and Nida, which can be reached by ferry with your vehicle, as well as towns on the Curonian Spit.
Signature points
Avoid the crowds and enjoy a traditional midsummer festival
Midsummer festivals are a signature event of summer in the Baltic states. Instead of a city festival that draws large crowds, we chose the more traditional, relaxed venue in Kernavė. After the evening festival, the driver will take you back to your hotel. Facilities may be limited at some venues, so we check the situation in advance before setting out.
Take the ferry with your vehicle to islands and towns on the Curonian Spit
We visit places reached by ferry, such as Kihnu Island in Estonia and Nida in Lithuania, with your vehicle on board. We arrange ferry tickets for both the vehicle and passengers.
Explore the historic capitals of all three countries and Kaunas, associated with Chiune Sugihara
We visit the old towns of Tallinn in Estonia, Riga in Latvia, and Vilnius in Lithuania. These cityscapes preserve medieval walls, cobbled lanes, and Gothic and Baroque churches; the old towns of Tallinn and Vilnius are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In Kaunas, Lithuania’s second-largest city, we also visit the memorial museum dedicated to Chiune Sugihara, the Japanese diplomat who issued visas to many Jewish people during World War II.
What we took into account on this trip
Background of the request
The family wanted to enjoy a midsummer festival in the Baltic states, and one member had difficulty walking long distances and needed frequent breaks. They preferred to travel with breaks along the way and to avoid using a wheelchair as much as possible.
